Bucher hydraulic cylinders…
Boom cylinders: These Bucher hydraulic cylinders are ideal for moving the boom and stick. Boom cylinders have a diameter of up to 3500mm when extended and have a weight of 600kg. With a long service life and the ability to withstand the harshest environments, boom cylinders are both cost-effective to the end user and maintain a consistent, temperature independent, material-friendly damping.
Swing-axle cylinders: To aid in locking the swing axle in mobile construction machines, swing-axle cylinders include a strong and stable design and due to its compact design the cylinder doesn’t require a complex route of hydraulic lines.
Stabiliser cylinders: Designed as safety-related components, stabiliser cylinders are exposed to huge loads and harsh environments. Bucher offer stabiliser cylinders that achieve the requirements involving functionality, compactness and long service life. Advantages include; reliable anti-leak characteristics, cost-effectiveness and robustness.
Dozer-blade cylinders: Added as an attachment on mobile excavators, dozer blades support excavators and improve stability. Integral check valves deliver leak-free shut-off and provide pipe-rupture protection. Keeping the dozer blades in a raised position prevents the check valve from sinking.
Suspension cylinders: These Bucher hydraulic cylinders enable hydro-pneumatic chassis suspension on mobile cranes. The extending piston rod is exposed to many demands, and it is protected by a gaiter. Thanks to its robustness and its ability to function in harsh environments, the suspension cylinders have a long service life and are cost-effective to the customer.
Counterweight cylinders: These Bucher hydraulic cylinders are used on mobile cranes to hold the counterweight. To ensure the safety standards, rigorous process planning takes place during manufacturing and assembly.
Locking cylinders: Locking or bolting cylinders ensure safety on cranes. They bolt the boom extension or the main boom. The necessary bolts are integrated in the design of Bucher’s cylinders. Locking cylinders are predominantly used for telescopic booms.
Steering cylinders: Steering cylinders are used predominantly in the hydraulic steering system of various vehicles such as cargo/material handlers. Due to efficient manufacturing, Bucher steering cylinders are inexpensive and have a long service life.
Brake cylinders: Bucher brake cylinders are used in the hydraulic brakes of various vehicles, for example as wheel brake cylinders.
Spring actuators: Used in parking and service brake systems spring actuators can be found in a diverse range of vehicle types. The integral compression spring provides the most functionality, whilst the brake is released hydraulically or pneumatically.
Lift and tilt cylinders: Lift and tilt cylinders enable the bucket in wheel loaders to move. As these cylinders will be exposed to harsh climates, and are therefore designed to undertake heavy-duty service.
Gripper cylinders: Bucher gripper cylinders can be used in two and multi-tine grabs for material handlers. With a robust and fail-safe design, gripper cylinders meet the requirements necessary to function in difficult climates. The piston rods are induction hardened and, where required, the cylinders are supplied with cushions.
Quick-hitch cylinders: Quick-hitch cylinders are integrated in the steelwork of the attachment-change devices on wheel loaders. They bolt and unbolt the attachment. The heavy-duty design ensures a lengthy service life.
Counterbalances: Bucher provide a range of hydraulic counterbalances that are used largely in industrial robots. The closed system works to counteract the axis load-moment adequately, so that the axis drive isn’t overloaded and can contribute maximum torque for the acceleration of the axis. The closed gas volume in the diaphragm accumulator can be compared to that of a mechanical spring.
Dosing cylinders: Dosing cylinders are used for metering abrasive fillers into both the polyol and the isocyanate component.
Cylinders for tool-changers: Bucher tool-changer cylinders are found in modern CNC machine tools. For it to be used in this kind of application, the cylinder must be designed to have a lengthy service life.
Push-out cylinders: Push-out cylinders are double-acting cylinders. They lengthen the stabiliser outriggers on mobile cranes, and push the whole track outwards on crawler machines, increasing the balance on the machine.
Backstop cylinders: These Bucher hydraulic cylinders are found on lattice boom cranes to prevent the boom from falling backwards. The cylinder is forcibly in-stroked and builds up the pressure necessary to push the jib back again. If there was a cylinder failure, the crane my be in danger of overturning. To contain the huge mechanical forces, Bucher hydro-storage cylinders are built exclusively using high-strength steels.
Steering lock cylinders: Steering lock cylinders are produced for locking steered axles on construction machines. Bucher products include spring actuators with pneumatic override and steering rods with hydraulic unlock for mobile cranes.
Stabiliser cylinders: Mobile cranes can be raised into a working position with four ground stabiliser cylinders. It is crucial to provide strong stability. The Bucher hydraulic cylinders must be designed for large capacities and brute forces. To ensure the stability of the cylinder, leak-free lock valves are built in the head of the cylinder.

Thank you, Joanna. Mark’s quote was from a technical discussion which answered many questions that I have been trying to get without success from other suppliers. Please thank Mark for his time and expertise; it was so refreshing to have a knowledgeable person rather than a sales assistant.Read More
