THE ENTERPRISE VISION AWARDS WINNER: Internet Industry Category, 2018
The Enterprise Vision Awards recognise women in business from across the North West. At the glittering award ceremony in Blackpool, our Co-founder Helen was named the winner of the Internet Industry category.
I would never have put myself forward for something like this, but once I was told that I’d been nominated I was thrilled! And flattered, of course. I’d like to thank whoever nominated me – these awards are a fantastic way to celebrate women in business.
CHESHIRE BUSINESS AWARDS Finalist: Business of the Year (up to 10 employees) Award AND Exporter of the Year
The Cheshire Business Awards are open to any firm in the region, big or small. Celebrating excellence, the awards salute companies, business leaders and teams who have demonstrated the foresight to drive their business – and the region – forward.
We’re immensely proud to have been chosen as finalists for two awards. Helen says, “It is so exciting to be asked to share the Hydraulics Online story and help inspire this, and the next generation, of business leaders in Cheshire. Our journey from a start-up operating from a spare desk at home to a globally trading business, exporting to 130 countries, seems to really strike a chord with people; sharing the lessons that Mark and I have learnt along the way is a great way to put our knowledge to good use.”
The winner will be revealed on Friday, October 12th at the spectacular Chester Cathedral.

“We were particularly impressed by Hydraulics Online because of: their global reach, their clear competitive positioning, their strong business model, and their plans to invest in technology to better understand their customers in a wide variety of markets around the world.”
Co-judge, Jie Liu, Associate Head of MMU’s Business Management department, was also impressed. So impressed that she invited Helen to speak to her class about international market strategies and Hydraulics Online’s use of the internet as a global market entry strategy.
Students from the university have since worked alongside Helen at Hydraulics Online on work-based learning placements. Of this, Jie said, “Helen has been one of the most engaged placement providers we have dealt with… she truly endeavours to provide a great experience for the two MMU students she has taken on.”
South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry Awards Winner: Excellence in Customer Service, November 2017
Financial planning group, 1825 were the sponsors and judges of the award. David Williams, Regional Managing Director at 1825, commented: “We picked Hydraulics Online Ltd as our winner of the Excellence in Customer Service award for 2017 because they demonstrated a superb customer service approach which has underpinned their business growth.
“We found them to be a welcoming and friendly business which interacts well with its customers through their website and social media, but still prefers the ‘old school’ approach of picking up the phone. We also felt that Helen and Mark truly understand the essence of good relationships in business; the incredibly low number of complaints they receive is testament to this. It is clear to us that they are always seeking to improve and be the ‘best they can be’ – placing real importance on customer feedback.”
